The week a head....

Combined with the Bank Holiday at the end of the week and my cardiac health referral instructor being away on holiday and no-one to fill her shoes, it is going to be a quiet week regarding cycling for health. But fortunately the other sessions will take place as a usual.
I'm going to take advantage of the quiet period and book some bikes in for repair at the local bike shop - Cyclezone. The bikes are in use daily and have seen many miles and it's important to keep on top of things regarding maintenance and safety. I'll also do an inventory on parts etc and re-order what's needed too.

I've been to a few of the recent "cycle for health" sessions and many of the cycles had under-inflated tyres; fortunately Palmer Park stadium has a pump tucked away at the reception desk!

One of the Ridgeback ladies bikes has a pretty buckled back wheel (possibly too far out of true to fix) and another Ridgeback has a front wheel which needs truing.

One or two of the mountain bikes donated by CenterParcs have seat posts which seem rather immovable.

What happened about the volunteer cycle mechanic you hoped to recruit — did anyone come forward?

Yes,finding the time to keep the bikes in tip-top condition is a constant battle of mine, as they are in constant use. I have the local bike shop coming over after Easter to pick up the 2 Ridgebacks with the buckled wheels and he is also dropping off a workstand - so minor repairs can be done at the track.
We've had to put the pump behind the desk as some of my tools have been removed from the storage area! We now have a bag of tools and 2 track pumps at the reception.
The volunteer has been trained and now we have the workstand - I will contact him after the Easter break to arrange the servicing.
