NCP employees get Bikeability training

A few weeks ago I had a call from a manager of NCP - he was hoping to take advantage of some free cycle training. The employees were parking enforcement officers and as they have to cover a lot of ground on foot, the decision had been made that everyone would be given a company bike. So cycle training/confidence was part of the company's risk assessment.
The participants all turned up promptly and went through Level 1 before going out onto the roads to do Level 2. By the end of the 4 hour session they were all riding confidently and competently. We all cycled back to Palmer Park for a well deserved drink and snack before parting company. So you have been warned - be careful where you park your car, as we now have some very nifty enforcement officers that are a dab hand at cycling!!

Have you visited Aylesbury recently? They have marked lots of new cycle lanes on the sides of roads and removed the dashed lines separating the cars. It's still very busy and I'm not sure I'd like to cycle round there.

Yes, Aylesbury is a Cycling Demonstration Town and have spent heaps on cycle lanes and marketing.
Cycling in Aylesbury is certainly a challenge - though Reading more so.....!
I'll get you out on a bike some day soon.......?
Maybe I could organise some cycle training?

That's a challenge I'll have to think about! Not in today's traffic but perhaps offroad. I'll have to take you for a sail in return.

Off road it is then...! I'm up for some sailing though! Have a good week and see you at the weekend?

How does someone sign up for this training, and how long does it take — a four hour session gets you through levels 1 and 2?

Yes, four hours was ample for the guys from NCP - though could take longer if the participant was a complete beginner and would we alter the schedule accordingly. To register for the free training - it's easy! Just call me on 07717575693 or 0118 901 5713.
I'm in the process of arranging some training for Reading University employees - we have 12 signed up and eager to learn!
