Last minute preparations

I have spent the morning at Prospect Park - taking over the CTC stand and material, in preparation for the Cycle Festival on Saturday.
The long range forecast is looking good - though I would pretty much accept any weather other than rain....! So, fingers crossed the sun will shine and lots of people will attend?

A gentle reminder of what's going on......

  • Freewheel from Palmer Park Stadium to Prospect Park - 09:00
  • Cycle Festival at Prospect Park - 10:00 to 16:00

At the festival there will be some great bikes to try out, cycle promotion stands, bike mechanic, face painter, family led rides and some sport 'try out' sessions.

It would be great to see you on the day - so look out for the 4 page supplement in tomorrow's Reading Evening Post, detailing all the activities for the day and through Bike Week '09.

Bring it on......!

"Some great bikes to try out" — here's hoping, then, there's at least one HPV Speedmachine and Hase Tagun. And a Challenge AlizĂ© wouldn't go amiss, either!

The Tagun for women only? — not in my book!

Where to put them all, that's the problem! Any chance of a private container at Palmer Park????

Hmmm, don't think we'll be running to those sort of machines - if only! Aimed more at the family market...

No problem on using the container at Palmer Park - well that is, if I can use them at any time! ;)

Those KMX Karts are great value for money — my little nieces (7 and 9) love their Cyclone models, but, having tried out an adult model (admittedly from their now discontinued range) this afternoon, it's evident you get what you pay for: the Challenge, HPV, ICE and Windcheetah trikes (to mention only European manufacturers!) are in a different league in both price and sophistication. These are trikes aimed at "serious" cyclists, whereas KMX seems to have aimed at people looking for "a bit of fun", and have that market pretty much cornered, it seems to me. I don't think anyone makes a better "kiddie" trike and that Cyclone model is strong enough for my nieces' dad to perch himself on it, well over the weight limit, and ride it helter-skelter down grassy slopes.
